We like sandwiches a lot. We thought our love of sandwiches was unmatched. Then we saw the genius of the 'Sandwich Book' by Polish photographer, illustrator and graphic designer Pawel Piotrowski. We are hoping he continues his project and creates a whole menu of 'Sandwich Books...' Very rarely does art make us hungry.

John Van Hamersveld (who we interviewed not too long ago) has just released his book Fifty Years of Graphic Design.This retrospective look at his practice as an iconic and prolific producer of graphic images rooted in all aspects of the West Coast counter culture provides insight and background to the stories behind each image and the various developments throughout his career.

San Francisco-based graphic artist Scott Hansen goes by the name ISO50 when he works on his photography and design works. And much of it has the look of this video. When he does said video as a musician, he is Tycho, the music producer who makes what we would call "summertime ambiance." This is the video for his new track, "Ascension," directed by Charles Bergquist. Enjoy the psychedelic flourishes.

Generally funerals in Japan are a black and white affair, with any color or deviation considered disrespectful. I&S BBDO, a Tokyo-based ad agency was commissioned by Nishinihon Tenrei funeral home to create an unconventional ad. And that they did! "Creative director Mari Nishimura decided to create a real-size human skeleton made from pressed flowers."

News broke last week that NYC-based fashion staple, Supreme, was suing women's fashion line, Married to the Mob, for a copyright infringement based around the logo/graphic "Supreme Bitch." What many in the art world already understood is that Barbara Kruger, now a professor at UCLA and world renowned conceptual artist, was, and we say this gently, robbed of her style by Supreme with their now iconic logo. Kruger would never go on record saying she created the idea of a red box with Futura Bold Oblique look, but, well, she did. This is our cover story with Kruger from November 2010.

On May 8, 1920, one of the most iconic and influential graphic designers, Saul Bass, was born. Creating posters and opening film sequences for classics like Pyscho, North By Northwest, Vertigo, Anatomy of a Murder, West Side Story, Cape Fear, Goodfellas, Casino, and countless more, we give a nod to the legend who passed away in 1996. Here is a collection of his great posters, and a few of our favorite opening title sequences... enjoy. Even Google got into the mix with a fantastic ode to Mr Bass on their search page...

Trapped in Suburbia has produced a new interactive print, Sounds Poster 1.0, that you can play like an instrument. The poster is the "first design in a series of 'analogue meets digital' experiments." The user places one finger on a tab at the bottom of the poster and then can move the other hand over the different shapes in the poster to create different, very abstract sounds. Y&R Peru, a language school, commissioned Venezuelan illustrator Igor Bastidas to design it's 2013 enrollment campaign. The result is a clever, fun series highlighting the importance of expressing yourself clearly.
