StayHigh 149 Rest In Peace

Legendary New York graffiti writer, Wayne “StayHigh 149 Roberts, passed away yesterday at the age of 61.  The artist who began writing in 1971 was known for his smoking stick figure and uni-wide “Voice of the Ghetto” tags.  After disappearing completely in 1975, it would be 25 years until Stayhigh surfaced again, emerging with a well-attended gallery show.  Stayhigh continued to write his name in the street despite his age and influenced generations of writers.

New wall from Flying Fortress, Nychos, Score, Most, and Chris Veng

New collaborative wall in Bushwick, Brooklyn featuring artists from Vienna, Germany, and the U.S.   Nychos painted the detailed organs of the bright yellow and red character by Flying Fortress, while Most, Score, and Chris Veng did there thing on the rest of the wall.  Flying Fortress is in town for his show “The One Man Army” that opens this Thursday June 15, 2012 at Mighty Tanaka Gallery.

We are deeply disappointed that we are unable to see Roid’s debut solo exhibition “More than Ever” with Topsafe London in person. The artist’s work is a mix and is influenced by typography, design, geometry, Manga, computers, robots, music and the list goes on, with one eye catching color palette for sure. His work has been courting our attention for a while and from these pictures one could easy think the canvases were created digitally.

New Mural by Rime & Revok

In association with the Detroit Beautification Project, Revok and Rime collaborated in painting this large mural packed with a variety of visual awesomeness.  Aside from the quality pieces from these two, Rime painted an angry yet comical animal eating one of his signature girl characters who are running rampant all over the wall.
