This morning we take a look at the work of Saarbrüken, Germany-based artist Simon Prades. Simon teaches illustration at the university of applied sciences in Trier and mainly works in ink, pencil and aquarelle.

From German design agency, Jung von Matt: "We designed special bowling balls together with famous spraygun artist Oliver Paass that look like cut-off heads. For more than three weeks he made detailed 360° layouts that were sprayed on standard bowling balls. In several German bowling alleys we swapped the standard balls for these special ones."

What a way to wake up on this sunny Northern California morning... nothing says sunshine like some Hamburg, Germany-born psychedelia by Mati Klarwein. From his site, it mentions: "was born in Hamburg on the 9th of April 1932, to a Jewish architect father from Polish origins, and a German opera singer mother." The art genes worked out. We love the entrance to the Brockenheimer Warte U-Bahn Station in Frankfurt, Germany. It looks like it either crashed into the ground or is in the process of burrowing its way underground.

  The Grifters newest video follows the 1up crew as they wreak havoc and vandalism everything through Lisbon, Portugal. Daytime clean trains, fire extinguishers, graffiti on girls, breaking and entering, basically all things that come with being a bastard graffiti writer.

We enjoyed this video by Monocle magazine in which they visit the factory of pencil making company Staedtler in Nuremberg, Germany. Staedtler has been making pencils in Nuremberg since 1662!  

Using some fancy cameras and a good eye, and maybe a little digital tweaking, photographer Nick Frank transformed the frantic, hustling and bustling Munich subway into inviting and very nicely composed spaces. 

This 90-meter x 50-meter structure by artist Christo is the largest indoor sculpture in history, holding a volume of 177,000 cubic meters. Installed at the Gasometer Oberhausen in Germany, Big Air Package, has an air lock to allow visitors to enter the installation.  

German photographer Dietmar Busse's series Fauna and Flora are unique combination of photography and painting. Busse moved to New York in the 90's, beginning his career as a fashion photographer before becoming disillusioned with the constraints of working for others. For Busse, making art 'is like being on the road, except that the [artistic] journey is an inward one.'  

German artist Wolfgang Stiller created an installation of giant matchsticks featuring charred faces sculpted on to the end. Using pieces of lumber and head molds, the artist fabricated the pieces to seem as though the faces emerged after the match was struck and burned-out.
