Assault Rifle Graphic Illusion Made From Ping Pong Balls

Michael Murphy's latest optic illusion- type installation titled Damage is made from 1,2000 hanging ping pong balls, painted black and must be vewed from a specific angle. When viewed from the correct angle, the hanging balls resemble an assault rifle. The artist is known for his optical illusion-type works that, when viewed from the correct angle, stap into place. "Guns are fetishized in the U.S.," the artist says, "Many, many Americans love guns. I'm creating a giant gun. I just want people to keep talking about guns [and] why we should have guns. Communication is necessary because I don't see any sort of solution being proposed."
