No question, we lost a legend last week with the passing of Maurice Sendak, and the New York Times published a portfolio this past weekend titled "Thanks, Maurice," inviting artists to re-imagine and create tributes to the author of Where The Wild Things Are. Geoff McFetridge, Gary Taxali, Jon Klassen, Marc Rosenthal, and Art Spiegelman were just a few of the artists who contributed tributes.

Yesterday morning, fresh off a red-eye from San Francisco, we headed to the preview of the Pulse Contemporary Art Fair New York. Full of strong rosters of international artists and galleries, the highlights included Geoff McFetridge at Cooper Cole, Rena Bransten's booth, Narwhal Projects, Porter Contemporary, and some very colorful works by David LaChapelle.

Living in the Bay Area, we have grown very familiar with the Heath Ceramics brand. Even if you don't care about housewares, go to Chez Panisse one day and drink a cup of coffee, and tell us you don't like that mug? In honor of the brand's 60th Anniversary, Heath has teamed up with Geoff McFetridge for a unique set of artist designed plates, bowls, mugs and other goods.

A great group show, We Was Them Kids..., is opening at HVW8 Gallery tonight in Los Angeles, featuring works from Geoff McFetridge, Kevin Lyons, Parra, Matt Irving, Winston Tseng, Yogi Proctor, Charles Munka, Brent Rollins, and Alvaro Ilizarbe. HVW8 curator Tyler Gibney pulls together some of the finest contemporary artist/designers to have exhibited at the HVW8 Gallery in recent years into one solid group outing.

The Ace Hotel NYC approached THIS Los Angeles wanting to collaborate on some idea, one being to bring THIS' annual big ass group show east. So that is what they did, and tonight, August 12, at Ace Hotel NYC, THIS LA is presenting These Friends At the Ace with such artists as Geoff McFetridge, Mel Kadel, Chris Duncan, Curtis Kulig and others.

Geoff McFetridge has always been known as an artist with great composition skills, and his newest body of work and solo show at Copenhagen's V1 Gallery, Us As A Logo, takes the idea of a logo to people, breaking them down to a striking, reduced to simplified, recognizable shapes.

WIth Nike SB having a stage last night at MOCA's "Art In the Streets," the team got to skate a Geoff McFetridge x Lance Mountain skate "park" that sits at the entryway of the exhibition's main hall. Coinciding with McFetridge and Nike SB at MOCA, a new Nike Dunk High is being released in super limited quantities to be auctioned off to benefit the MOCA Foundation. More after the jump . . .

Michael Leon, who we featured in a great interview in our February 2011 issue, has his Stacks team out in the world, doing one-day stops for "The Cult of Stacks" tour. The 11-Years of Stacks event features skate photography from Eric Elms, Kevin Lyons, Geoff McFetridge, Michael Leon, Evan Hecox, as well as skating from Reese Forbes, Dani Lebron, Sebo Walker and Cameo Wilson.
