The Vietnam War remains a troubled part of American and world history causing all kinds of personal and political upsets. Coming across these custom engraved zippo lighters belonging to U.S. Army members in the war does not suggest anything different. The crude slogans carved into the crusty lighters are telling of the brash, careless attitude necessary to slog through the troubles of warfare and fears of premature death.

Maybe we are insensitive to real burning buildings, but this installation from Montreal-based artist Isabelle Hayeur is very interesting and one of the better pieces of art we have seen this weekend. This could lead to a boy cries wolf scenario, but you should watch the video after the jump to see how it works...
