In 2001, artist and filmmaker, Matt McCormick created a film connecting graffiti removal with characteristics of abstract expressionism, minimalism and Russian constructivism. Implying that “buffing” was created by artists who are unconscious of their artistic achievements and deserving of a place in the history of modern art. The video includes Narration from artist/actor Miranda July and was mostly shot on 16mm.

During MOCA's Art In the Streets, the Neckface x Isaiah Seret collaborative film, Born Under a Bad Sign, was teased during the Levi's Film Workshop. The film is now set to world premiere at Art Basel in Miami this week, featuring a music performance by art-house noise band, Salem.

In conjunction with the Orange County Museum of Art's Two Schools of Cool exhibition, the museum will be screening the documentary, Robert Williams: Mr Bitchin', tomorrow, November 17. This screening will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Mat Gleason and including Artist Robert Williams and producers/co-directors Douglas Blake, Michael LaFetra, Nancye Ferguson and Stephen Nemeth.

We mentioned attending a special premiere of Francis Ford Coppola's newest film, Twixt, this past weekend in St Helena on our Facebook page. With some beautiful art direction, trickery, and an ode to great American gothic and horror films, we thought the trailer for the upcoming film was worth a watch.

You probably know the story; Herb and Dorothy Vogel (the postal worker and librarian), who were the subject of the inspiring documentary beacuse of their extraordinary passion that redefined what it meant to be art collectors. But their story isn't over, and Kickstarter is promoted a fundraiser to help move their collection around the US.

Being a collector of Criterion Collection DVDs, we happen to have a few of Wes Anderson's films at home that feature the artwork of his brother, Eric Chase Anderson. Seeing that Mr. Wes Anderson is a detail-obsessed filmmaker, having these simple but brand identifying illustrations as companion pieces to the films is another reason why his films are cult hits.
