Edward Munch's The Scream is an unanimously recognizable artwork for common folk and art lovers alike. One of Munch's pastels of the image is up there with the highest art sales to date going for nearly 120 million dollars (it is the highest in dollar amount but eight in value when adjusted for inflation).

Trailer: "Oz the Great and Powerful"

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 15, 2012
There will be debate, and plenty of happy/angry people surrounding Disney and Sam Raimi's new prequel to the landmark 1939 masterpiece, The Wizard of Oz, the James Franco starring Oz: the Great and Powerful. Adapted from L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the film will follow Oz' life prior to our meeting of him in the 1939 film. So we time travel together: 1939 to 2013, back to pre-1939.

Old Norse: Conor Harrington in Vardo, Norway

Street Art // Tuesday, November 13, 2012
Our December 2012 cover artist, Conor Harrington, was in Vardo, Norway earlier this year, painting incredibly impressive murals around town for Komafest. Luckily for we readers and fans who were not able to make it up near the North Pole, Andrew Telling filmed a beautiful piece documenting Harrington's trip and the surrounding area. Watch Old Norse after the jump...

Made in collaboration with Los Angeles based musician Sam Spiegel (AKA DJ Squeak E Clean, one half of DJ duo N.A.S.A.), Aaron and Sam decided they would not pay direct homage to Basquiat and his work.

While there, we saw Harrington's two new pieces, now on display at Lazarides' Bedlam show. Just as he prepared his Dead Meat work, there was a photoshoot with models for the new pieces, and Harrington just released a new video of the behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot. Go watch...

Created for the Miles Of Murals program, this mural just keeps going, and going, and going...

Official Video: Grizzly Bear "Yet Again" by Emily Kai Bock

Music // Sunday, October 07, 2012
In our opinion, the new Grizzly Bear LP, Shields, is one of the best of 2012, and "Yet Again" one of the best tracks on said album. The track just got a wonderful video treatment from director Emily Kai Bock, following an ice skater's serene yet imperfect routine that descends into a bit of chaos and anger. Like the song. Well done.
