This is quite good, especially considering the Sci-Fi London Film Festival asks of entries to make a 5-minute film in only 48 hours. And if you have ever made a film, that is quite hard to do. On top of that, the festival organizers give each group of filmmakers the props, title, and the theme, and tell them to have at it. This year's winner is Future, Inc, by Future Tense. Tomorrow is the final deadline, May 17, to enter the world's largest short film festival, TropFest 2012, by 5pm EST. This weekend (its started already) is the inaugural San Diego Surf Film Festival, and with a great line-up of shorts, full-lenghts, documentaries, and experimental work, we wish we could check out Through the Whiskey Barrel: A Film About Surfing In Scotland (it shows on Saturday, May 12, we have time). The world’s largest short film festival, TropFest 2012, is turning 20 and celebrating by bringing the festival to New York’s Bryant Park on June 23. So Tropfest invites filmmakers of all backgrounds and levels of experience to get out and create short films for submission—plus the chance to win $20,000.

We have followed the fine art, performance art, and fillmmaking career of Miranda July for quite a bit, as her works shown at Deitch Projects and film Me and You and Everyone We Know have all been acclaimed projects.
