Erotica // Thursday, April 02, 2015
This Saturday April 4th at 7pm, Fifty24SF Gallery in association with Upper Playground presents a print show by renowned artist Hajime Sorayama. If you remember, we featured Sorayama in the print edition of Juxtapoz back in December 2014, and that feature ended with probably the most bizarre ending we have ever had in the magazine (Sorayama was asked if he wanted a drink and retorted: "Your breast milk will be fine, if you may." Priceless, bizarre, but priceless.)

NYCHOS, the Austrian super muralist that we have featured in our print edition and web edition many times over the years, is set to open a new solo show, "Street Anatomy," at FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco on Friday, April 18th 2014. NYCHOS has been painting murals all over the city the past few weeks, and our friend James Pawlish caught him painting at the iconic Haight-Ashbury intersection. Probably a good idea for the foot traffic and the sleeping kids on the street to get a little NYCHOS in their brains...

ARYZ will be opening a new solo show, Style Is The Limit, at FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco next week, April 19, and we got a few teaser shots from the gallery of the Spanish artist's studio space. The January 2013 cover artist has much anticipation with this show, a lot of the attention focused on the rare occasion the young artist has shown in a gallery setting. More to come...

Sam Flores loves the number 12. He named his clothing line 12Grain, he really wanted his cover story with Juxtapoz to happen in December, the 12 month, and now he is opening his first solo show in SF in years on the perfect date: 12/12/12. We have a look at some of the paintings that will be in the show, Lion and the Lamb.

FIFTY24SF Gallery, in association with Upper Playground, is pleased to announce their closing exhibition of 2012, Lion and the Lamb, featuring brand new works from San Francisco-based fine artist, Sam Flores. Lion marks Flores’ first showing in his hometown in nearly a decade, and his first solo show since 2011?s Cairo exhibition at Articulate Baboon.
Juxtapoz // Monday, December 03, 2012
We are very excited for the highly anticipated Sam Flores solo show, Lion and the Lamb, opening at FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco on 12/12/12. Because Flores' last show opened in Egypt days before a major revolution erupted on the streets of Cairo in 2011, this is the first time many people have seen a solo from the Bay Area artist.

Last week, we headed over to Jeremy Fish's San Francisco studio to check out all the new work he was preparing for his exhibition, Where Hearts Get Left, opening Saturday, July 14, at FIFTY24SF Gallery. The show, featuring new paintings, sculptures, drawings, a new book, and a six screenprints, is all built around the concept of "a visual love letter to San Francisco," where Fish noted, "I am begging her to not become a sterile West Coast Manhattan any time soon. What are the constants? What are the things I will always love about SF no matter what happens?”

We get a chance to visit with Jeremy Fish every so-often, and generally it is on the occasion of a new exhibition or body of work being built. What we enjoy the most about visiting Fish in his SF North Beach studio is that whatever research or preparation he has compiled while making the work, the remnants are evident throughout his space...
Juxtapoz // Monday, July 02, 2012
Our good friend and 2x cover artist, Jeremy Fish (who did a nice logo shirt for us this past year), is set to open a new body of work, Where Hearts Get Left, at San Francisco's FIFTY24SF Gallery. Showing at Upper Playground's FIFTY24SF for the first time in 5 years, the exhibition features 60+ new works and is inspired by and created as a visual love letter to the city of San Francisco. Hey, we live in San Francisco!

This past Saturday, we stopped by the first day of Mexico-based artist, Rico Deniro's Escoliosis, his second exhibition at FIFTY24SF Gallery and his second featuring a series wooden masks. But this new series also features iconic pop-culture figures carved from wood to function as everyday, household objects.
