Under the name 3cm, Yung Cheng Lin, a Taiwanese photographer, focuses on portraits of women with some kind of body manipulation—either literally or through the play of imagery. Many of her portraits seem intent to disturb, piercing the body with threads, tacks or nails. They also reference some of the often hidden elements of the female body: blood and fluids.

Parisian street artist and illustrator Fafi explores femininity through stereotypes, using them to her advantage. She's done commercial illustration work and has secured toy manufacturing deals, but we love her independent work.

For the dedicated sports fan, a collectible trading card is a glorified and appreciated form of professional athletic recognition. Published in 1979 with a grant from the New York State Education Department, Lois Rich and her sister Barbara Egerman contacted five hundred women of achievement and created cards for the first seventy-two that responded.
