Joshua Liner Gallery presents the artist curated group show: Your Favorite Artist’s Favorite Artist. Featuring artists exhibited this year and in forthcoming 2015, each gallery artist has selected to show alongside a creative individual whom they admire. On view through December 20, this eclectic and diverse exhibition of work is a reflection of our vibrant 2014 program, and offers a fresh outlook for the coming year.

For the last 20 years, Juxtapoz Art and Culture Magazine has stood for the outsiders, to create a place and dialogue for artists who stood outside of the museum programming of the time but were creating substantial and amazing work that needed its own historical context. We have been lucky in our 20th year to celebrate special events in NYC and San Francisco, but we are even luckier to get a chance to celebrate with our July 2014 cover artist, Shepard Fairey, as he curates a major public art and exhibition, "Art Alliance: The Provocateurs" in Chicago during Lollapolooza, July 31—August 4, 2014.

Joshua Liner Gallery is pleased to present FOLKLORE, an exhibition of handcrafted works that celebrate the simple and direct experience of visual enjoyment. Curated by gallery artist Evan Hecox (cover artist, August 2012) and featuring artists from the United States, England, and France, FOLKLORE offers a view of contemporary practice that synthesizes art, design, and photography into a new vernacular. Created across a range of media, these works are catchy and infectious like a summer pop song, while drawing viewers into underlying ideas about modern life.

Joshua Liner Gallery has moved spots in NYC to a street-level, 2,600-square-foot exhibition space located at 540 West 28th Street in the Chelsea Arts District. To kick off the opening of the new space, the gallery will open a group show, Direct Address, this Thursday March 21 with a great roster of former Juxtapoz cover artists and features, as well as some new talent that we look forward to checking out. Swoon, Steve "ESPO" Powers, David Ellis, Evan Hecox, and Jean-Pierre Roy are just a few names in the show....

There is a duality in the work of Evan Hecox. Each piece of art is instantly recognizable as his, from skate graphics to fine art pieces, there is a command of style unlike any artists I can recall. Secondly, the viewer recognizes a location and history in the paintings—his street corner signage—the storefronts are abstract but familiar.

As we noted on the site the other day, this is our kind of showcase. Former Juxtapoz covers, Thomas Campbell (April 2007), Evan Hecox (August 2012), and Ed Templeton (featured throughout the years, most recently, February 2012), just opened 3 shows simultaneously at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen. Photographer Henrik Haven went to check it out for us...

This is our kind of showcase. Former Juxtapoz covers, Thomas Campbell (April 2007), Evan Hecox (August 2012), and Ed Templeton (featured throughout the years, most recently, February 2012), will all be showing at the same time at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen, starting on Friday, August 31. And for clarity sake, all 3 artists are having solo shows. This is 3 for the price of 1.

August 2012 cover artist, Evan Hecox, Shepard Fairey, and Jim Houser... not a bad line-up in one showing. The trio of artists will be showing together at Black Book Gallery in Denver, Colorado, starting this Friday, August 3rd. Coinciding with the exhibition, Shepard Fairey and Evan Hecox will be installing murals on the Metropolitan State College of Denver CVA (Center for Visual Arts), and on Friday, August 3rd, there will be an invite only panel discussion with all 3 artists at the same Center for Visual Arts.

Over the past 12 months, August 2012 cover artist Evan Hecox has created two significant bodies of work that have shed a new light and appreciation upon two of the most photographed cities in the world; London and New York. To us at Juxtapoz, it has been some of our...

Denver-based Evan Hecox, one of our personal favorites on the site, is about to open a new body of work, Dark Island, at Joshua Liner Gallery in NYC on May 24, 2012. The exhibition, featuring acrylic and gouache works on vintage newspaper, is inspired by Hecox’s recent walks across lower Manhattan and west Brooklyn.
