Gabriel Everett's "Chrysalis"

Erotica // Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Gabriel Everett's "Chrysalis" for Wolf Magazine is an absolutely stunning cinematic record of the female body in transition. The evocative title speaks to the sort of slow unfurling of a nude body as it interacts with the sunlight in this gorgeous footage. The viewer gets to witness this beautiful, sultry series of moments as the model lounges in a poolside villa. Though we've all seen our share of slow-motion women in pools, the strong cinematography and gorgeous styling of this video give us an entirely fresh experience that will leave anyone wanting more.

Muse Magazine: 'Too Pure'

Erotica // Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Maciek Kobielski shoots the glowing gold-and-lace clad Magdalena Frackowiak in a series that inverts the chaste imagery of matrimony. The photoseries, ironically titled 'Too Pure' for Muse Magazine, poses Frackowiak in white fabrics of varying coverage to create an alluring, tongue-in-cheek commentary on bridal gowns and veils. Draped in gauzy, translucent veils of silk, fur and plastic, the model invites us with a demure look to imagine what comes after she walks down the aisle.

The Madness of "Institutional White"

Erotica // Wednesday, March 27, 2013
"Institutional White" is a gorgeous, totally disturbing photoseries by bold photographer Steven Klein. These photos are inspired by the legend of an actress who refused to conform through her descent into madness. Grainy and sweat-slicked, these photos are almost painful to look at, describing the dire struggle between the clinical and the maniacal. Klen conjures an imaginary tale of discipline, betrayal, will and obsession through these images, painting gritty scenes of a story we want to see more of. Models Karolina Kurkova and Crystal Renn perform with stunning commitment to these bone-biting roles.

Sophie Vlaming by Sandor Lubbe

Erotica // Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Sandor Lubbe photographs the dangerous, doe-eyed Sophie Vlaming in a series of searingly moody portraits. The desaturated flush of the lighting in these photos gives them an attitude of voyeur and deviant behavior. Heavy-lidded and pale-skinned, Sophie Vlaming seems to challenge the viewer to come closer. These photos are as sexy as they are intimidating, pushing the boundaries of photography almost into the realm of the cinematic. Photographer Sandor Lubbe was born in 1963 in Holland, and he currently lives and works in Amsterdam.

Saikusa's Dark Interiors for Tank Magazine

Erotica // Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Photographer Satoshi Saikusa takes to low lighting in this mysterious interior shoot for Tank Magazine. Models Sophie Srej and Melo Dagault interact like a pair of angular twin dolls, alternately slipping in and out of shadows, alternating outfits. Saikusa plays with the shadows of plants and furniture to generate jagged shapes to compliment the strange, darker undertones of the models' body language. We love the troubled sexiness of this shoot.

Conrad Roset's Watercolor Muses

Erotica // Wednesday, March 27, 2013
A prolific illustrator from Terrassa, Conrad Roset calls "the Muses" his most personal collection, a gorgeous, impressionistic series of languishing women rendered in tender, blushing watercolors. Roset is able to capture pose, expression and emotion perfectly with simple washes of brilliant color. Roset has exhibited in the MOMA in Virginia, San Francisco's Spoke Art, and Artevistas in Barcelona. He is now a professor of illustration at the School of Design BAU. "I search the beauty the body exudes, I like drawing the female figure," says Roset, and boy, is he good at it.

Tara Krebs' "Cheesecake Theology"

Erotica // Wednesday, March 27, 2013
Tara Krebs takes iconic figures from myth, history and literature and re-imagines them in a bold, sexy pinup style in her "Cheesecake Theology" series. By imposing a distinctly American aesthetic onto the bodies of various gods, deities and forebears of various international cultures, she raises provocative questions about how women are portrayed by different countries and for differnt purposes. Krebs is a Canadian artist and resides in Ontario. She attributes her artistic output from having been hidden away from the cold Canadian winter for most of her childhood.
