Joseph McVetty's Strange Rituals

Erotica // Thursday, June 06, 2013
'Joseph McVetty is an artist and illustrator living and working in Portland, Oregon. The masked participants of these drawings are acting out communal rituals involving new age occult signifiers such as crystals, chakras, energy fields, levitation, and conjuring. Each drawing aims to evoke the feelings associated with the cultish, drop-out supernaturalism, and homespun magic...'

Niso Ramponi, known throughout 1950s Italy by his aliases Kremos and Nisus, rose to popularity in Rome as a beloved cartoonist, illustrator, painter and animator. Today Kremos is a cult favorite amongst erotica lovers worldwide. Ramponi's illustrations are masterful renderings of Italian beauties that are all pouty lips, sky-high heels and legs for days.

Alberich Mathews' Floating World

Erotica // Wednesday, June 05, 2013
This absolutely gorgeous photo by Alberich Mathews seems more dream than photograph. A master of underwater photography, Mathews is able to capture a floating world untroubled by bubbles, debris or any other visual barriers, creating a haunting, almost marbled vision of a floating woman. The mirrored reflection casts a haunting double above her, as if a warped ghost of some space-birth.

'Pretty Big Mouth'

Erotica // Wednesday, June 05, 2013
'Pretty Big Mouth' is a super sexy, playful black-and-white video teasing out the beautiful image of this young model, her cigarettes and a gun. Lounging in heels and fishnets, the model flirts with the camera, alternating between irresistibly sexy and darkly cute. Her short-cropped, dark curly hair gives her a sense of both innocence and danger. This film is a lot of fun, a sort of film-noir approach to voyeur and modeling.

"The Collector" by Tom Gallant

Erotica // Wednesday, June 05, 2013
Tom Gallant creates these ambiguously sensual sculpture-images out of flowers and paper. The forms evoke female bodies and bodies in sexual acts, captured in the gentle florals of actual plants. These are beautiful and strange, juxtaposing different living forms to create a static one pressed in glass. The delicacy and ephemerality of these artworks makes theme singularly lovely, reflecting the nature of all living things and their inherent sexuality.

Pinup In Black

Erotica // Tuesday, June 04, 2013
Gil Elvgren's "Pin Up In Black" is a lovely and very sophisticated pinup, clad in tight, sleek black fabric and sporting a healthy reddish glow to her cheeks. Instead of the typical skimpy bathing suit and buxom blond curls, she shies away, demure in a little more modest outfit. It's nice to see a little more mature edge to these wonderfully retro pinups.

Amputee Robot Doll Bondage

Erotica // Tuesday, June 04, 2013
Itsuki Takashi was an obscure comic artist from the 80s, before the craze of "Ghost in a Shell." Itsuki's "Amputee Robot Doll Bondage" drawings exposed the twisted aesthetic of the more extreme edges of the gothic Lolita look. Some argue that Itsuki was the first to come up with this particular cell of Japanese fashion. Unfortunately, after this series he was never really heard of again. Given the very particular kink-fashion category of these illustrations, it makes sense that some audiences might find them hard to stomach, but we think they're pretty badass in their own weird way. Maybe the world should give Amputee Robot Doll Bondage another try?

Icky Blossoms' "Cycle"

Erotica // Tuesday, June 04, 2013
This video for "Cycle," a track from the Omaha electro-pop trio "Icky Blossoms," is definitely a NSFW affair. Cobbled together from clips of ancient porn, all cut quickly together as if to tempt but not satisfy. Essentially this video is a super rapid-fire humpfest. Watch it, but wait until you get home.
