Richard Prince's Stickered Figures

Erotica // Monday, July 15, 2013
In this collection of found pornographic black and white photographs, artist Richard Prince meticulously selects and places DVD and CD stickers onto graphic erotic images, covering the explicit sexual content with suggestive titles that give the images a fresh and previously absent depth of narrative. Prince's "rephotographs" are evocative in their new contextual environment, implying histories of exploitation, violence, personal tragedies, and individual characteristics absent in their original framework as objectified images for the pure sexual pleasure of their viewership.

NYC Penis Subway Map

Erotica // Monday, July 15, 2013
In 2000, German designer and illustrator Veit Shuetz adapted the classic MTA subway map for Brooklyn-based art and design firm Cosmic Arts Enterprises' Spring Gallery Show. His interpretation of the map, however, was something entirely unexpected. Using the subway lines as intersecting veins traveling through the throbbing high traffic areas of New York City's busiest boroughs, Shuetz cleverly transformed the MTA map into an anatomical diagram of the penile shaft and testicles. Looking at the piece now, the analogy seems so apt it's a wonder it took so long for someone to finally realize it. Good show, Shuetz, good show.

Inspired by the hypnotic sensory sounds of Daft Punk, New Zealand-based artist Gina Kiel created an incredibly sensual piece for San Francisco's Gauntlet Gallery in their recent exhibition "ReDiscovery," coinciding with the popular French electronica band's highly anticipated new album release. Kiel's sleek illustration depicts three female figures possessed by some electronic organism, each feeding off the other's intensely erotic form of ecstasy during an intimate moment of transformation from human to machine. Be sure to check out this piece and others from Kiel after the jump.

If you ask this 100-year-old great grandma a question, there's a pretty good chance her response will include the word "dick." The reporter repeatedly tries to ask the New York City-area centurion innocent questions about her birthday, but she turns the conversation back to the male anatomy.

Tom Wesselmann's Pop Art Nudes

'Tom Wesselmann was one of the leading American Pop artists of the 1960s, rejecting abstract expressionism in favor of the classical representations of the nude, still life, and landscape. He created collages and assemblages incorporating everyday objects and advertising ephemera in an effort to make images as powerful as the abstract expressionism he admired. He is perhaps best known for his Great American Nude series with their flat forms and intense colors.
