Lawson Taylor Boy-Rotica

Erotica // Wednesday, July 17, 2013
“Fuckthe…”  is an Editorial by Corrine Jade Noel for C-Heads Summer Issue #29 featuring the sullen but irresistibly hip Lawson Taylor. It's not often that we feature strictly boy-rotica in this department, not because of any prejudice (please, God, send us more boys!) but simply because the vast majority of erotica is lady-focused. Lawson Taylor is helping us prove that ladies aren't the only ones who look pretty tattooed and topless.

Oren Haskins and the Sensual Form

Erotica // Tuesday, July 16, 2013
Oren Haskins' work is sensitive and lush, placing a heavy focus on the power of the shape, especially when it comes to women. These works are both character design and illustration, evoking the graceful power of the female body through simple renderings of light, color and form. Haskins' women are modern incarnations of Eve, wandering nude through fields of natural light or Japanese hot springs full of monkeys. His works are lovely ruminations on the sensual form.

Erotica // Tuesday, July 16, 2013
Photographer Romain Laurent shot this image for WAD Magazine, putting a unique spin on "sexy time." Using humans as the hands and tick marks on a clock, this art piece is photography, performance, installation and erotica all at once.

Moscva: Life or Cartoon

Erotica // Tuesday, July 16, 2013
Ewa Mos, or more familiarly "Moscva," is a freelance illustrator, photographer and graphic designer based in the UK. Moscva has taken a simple concept and pushed it to its most extreme--taking origical photographs and drawing over them to create awesome human-meets-artwork mashup pieces that hover somewhere between reality and cartoon. Moscva is able to populate the living world of her sexy subjects with the weird, sloppy drawn characters of her mind, individualizing her erotica with a fresh, graphic element.

Bone and Braid: Stephanie Inagaki

Erotica // Tuesday, July 16, 2013
Stephanie Inagaki combines bone and braid, spine and hair, body and negative space to interrogate the erotic consciousness. She works in stark monochromes, using the blinding contrast of dark and light to place emphasis on her forms. Inagaki creates nightmarish imagery reminiscent of Japanese horror films and the ghost lore of Eastern memory. Inagaki's work represents the dark, writhing edges of erotic art.

Richard Prince's Stickered Figures

Erotica // Monday, July 15, 2013
In this collection of found pornographic black and white photographs, artist Richard Prince meticulously selects and places DVD and CD stickers onto graphic erotic images, covering the explicit sexual content with suggestive titles that give the images a fresh and previously absent depth of narrative. Prince's "rephotographs" are evocative in their new contextual environment, implying histories of exploitation, violence, personal tragedies, and individual characteristics absent in their original framework as objectified images for the pure sexual pleasure of their viewership.

NYC Penis Subway Map

Erotica // Monday, July 15, 2013
In 2000, German designer and illustrator Veit Shuetz adapted the classic MTA subway map for Brooklyn-based art and design firm Cosmic Arts Enterprises' Spring Gallery Show. His interpretation of the map, however, was something entirely unexpected. Using the subway lines as intersecting veins traveling through the throbbing high traffic areas of New York City's busiest boroughs, Shuetz cleverly transformed the MTA map into an anatomical diagram of the penile shaft and testicles. Looking at the piece now, the analogy seems so apt it's a wonder it took so long for someone to finally realize it. Good show, Shuetz, good show.
