It's no doubt that the Rockaways in New York faced some extreme damage during Hurricane Sandy, and right beside the site where the boardwalk once stood, MoMA PS1 has constructed and rebuilt a large geodesic dome as a space to percolate thought, host events, and create an exciting exchange of various kinds. We are eager to see what results. It will be officially opening this Friday, March 29, 2013.

As you know reading our site over the years, we love mural projects, public art, and especially, public art in unexpected places (for example, see Escif & San's tour of the Southwest). That is why we are fascinated by Jane Kim, an artist, science illustrator, and founder of INK-DWELL Studio that has started the Migrating Mural project, a series of "murals painted along migration corridors shared by people and endangered animals."

Just a casual tightrope walk by moonlight near Cathedral Peak at Yosemite National Park in California. Dean Potter took the walk, and amazingly, this was shot from over 1 mile away with a Canon 800mm and 2X by Michael Schaefer. Watch the video after the jump . . .

From now until March 31, 2013, you can see this incredible festival of LED lights, Winter Illuminations at Nabana no Sato, a botanical garden on the island of Nagashima in Japan. With this year's theme being nature, the highlight is an incredible tunnel of light with tens of thousands of LED lights.

These aerial views of coast side communities before and after Hurricane Sandy roared across the East Coast offer impressive details of the power of the storm. Boats were moved from harbors into neighborhood streets, piers were demolished, roofs ripped off, and sand was pushed into and over blocks and blocks of homes.

David B. Smith Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new works by artist Gregory Euclide, Observing only the ease of my own slipping toward your unknown. For this exhibition, Euclide expanded upon the scale and visual vocabulary of the works featured in his most recent exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition opens on Saturday, September 15.

Yes, please, we will live here. This is the Snow House, a place where showering might be a tad exposed, but the layout and architectural set-up is undeniable. The house was constructed by Milan based design firm, Santambrogio, and is built throughout with a blue hued glass. The book cases, bed, and most everything is constructed with that same blue hued glass. Again, where do you shower?

Bryan Nash Gill takes recycled lumber and coats the surface in ink and washi paper, and creates these fantastic impressions with his fingers and fingernails to get these amazing patterns of tree rings. Not to get sappy so early in the day, but this just shows you how amazing nature's structure really is.

Brigitte Zieger’s created this fantastic outdoor installation for the Les Environnementales Biennial of Contemporary Art at Tecomah, an environmental studies school outside of Paris. She created The Shadow, the impression of an aeroplane flying overhead... only in her work, the shadow is permanent.
