Ed Templeton opened "Common Side Effects," an expansive exhibition last weekend at the Huntington Beach Art Center that includesa survey of old work along with new paintings and drawings directly inspired from this immersion into his coastal suburban environment. Additionally Templeton chose 5 local photographers in whose work the city of Huntington Beach and the people who gravitate there are prominent features, to be displayed in the space.

Skateboarding icon, painter, photographer, drawer, people-watcher, beautiful loser, #dailyhbpierphoto-er, and all around talented person, Ed Templeton, will be opening Common Side Effects, a survey of old work along with new paintings and drawings directly inspired from this immersion into his coastal suburban environment. Common Side Effects extends Templeton’s diaristic observances into a compelling visual analysis of the concrete experiences, perceptions, and idiosyncrasies of this hyper-local existence.

If you follow Ed Templeton on Instagram (which you should), you have been lucky enough to enjoy his #dailyhbpierphoto and ongoing documentation of the people and culture surrounding the iconic pier in Huntington Beach, California. The legendary skateboarder, photographer, and artist's fascination with the peculiarity of Huntington Beach is the inspiration behind his new exhibit Synthetic Surburbia which will open at Roberts & Tilton Gallery in Los Angles on April 25th, 2015. We headed over to the gallery this week to catch a preview and watch Ed set-up!

Our friends at artnet just launched a new Contemporary Color Photography auction today with some pretty damn solid photographers on the roster. Alex Prager (above), Ryan McGinley, Ed Templeton, Cindy Sherman, Marilyn Minter, and Nan Goldin are just some of the names available. As you know from both our print and web editions of Juxtapoz, we think quite fondly of photography in this digital age, so get bidding.

Ed Templeton has just released a new book, "Wayward Cognitions," published through Thomas Campbell's new Um Yeah Arts imprint, and there is a nice video to accompany the release and explain the project. Sit back and relax and enjoy a little context from of our favorite photographers.

20 years worth of street life in it’s rawest form is captured by legendary skateboarder Ed Templeton in his recently released “Wayward Cognitions”, published by Um Yeah Arts. Addressing the grim culture with a deeply marginal, alternative angle, Templeton is unapologetic in his collection of photographs.

Galería Javier López in Madrid is about to open what looks like an epic group show, "Knock Knock," that basically runs the entire roster of every fantastic comic-book inspired artist we have ever covered. From Charles Burns to Daniel Clowes, Erik Parker and REAS, Gary Panter and Kaws, Keiichi Tanaami to Ed Templeton, Nara and Faile, this looks to be one of the absolute standout exhibitions of the summer.

This is a fun little show from the curators of V1 Gallery, where they sent out a message to a bunch of artists they have shown over the years, including Barry McGee, Tim Barber, Ray Potes, Ed Templeton, Art Marcopoulos, and more, and asked them to submit one piece of art, in an edition of 1 + 1AP, that reflects the current state of the individual artists position right now. That show has become "Hindsight," and opens on January 17, 2014.
