Part art opening, part performance art: receptions at Daniel Rolnik Gallery stands above the rest in sheer goofiness. Friday's show had paper towel rolls dispensing penis drawings, bags of fake cocaine, and a zine of nude selfies. There was also traditional media -paintings and drawings- but all still tongue in cheek. Stop by and see a light-hearted gallery like none other.

Artists and best buds Porous Walker and Ferris Plock took a road trip down to Santa Monica to curate a new show at Daniel Rolnik Gallery opening tonight in Santa Monica. There will be a cornhole championship game, free drinks on Mr. Rolnik, and a star-studded artist line-up, featuring some of our favorite people and a few mysterious new friends.

For our June 2012 issue we invited artist Don Pendleton to grace our cover with a one of a kind painting. In addition to to the cover, Pendleton also created a limited edition print exclusively for Juxtapoz. The print Pendleton created and designed is a hand-separated seven-color solid plate lithograph print, measuring 18" x 24".

In the approximately 35 years of modern skateboarding, the importance of the artwork adorning the bottom of the boards themselves cannot be overstated. A mash-up of personal expression, corporate branding, propagandic conveyance, and sometimes, even true fine art at their best, they can express many of the seemingly schizophrenic facets of the skateboard world for which they speak.

Our good friends at Power House Productions in Detroit, whom we worked with during our 15th Anniversary fundraiser in 2009-10, is putting on a skateboard art exhibition fundraiser, Good Wood, for the Ride It Sculpture Park that is going in the neighborhood close to where Juxtapoz bought houses in 2009. The online bidding auction begins on May 19, and the art show that coincides with the auction begins on May 26 in Detroit.

This past Saturday night in Santa Monica, Copro Gallery opened a special exhibition, Juxtapoz Turns 18, a retrospective and collection of artworks and artists who have helped shape our publication over nearly two decades. Hundreds upon hundreds of artists and gallery-goers made it out to the opening, enjoying a look at what has made the magazine a leading voice in underground and contemporary art for 20 years.
