Great idea for this show. As Richard Heller Gallery notes, "The show isn't really about "NSFW" artwork, but the motive to click on something with that tag and the anticipation of not knowing if it really will be inappropriate or just someone else’s opinion of what they deem to be objectionable." The group show curated by Associate Director, Barry Belkin.

We knew Los Angeles-based artist Devin Troy Strother was off to big things when we first started to see his artwork on our radar about 6 years ago, and now the artist has a string of great shows that have now led to a new body of work, "I Just Landed in Rome," open at Marlborough Broome Street in NYC. The show features a new series of large-scale sculptures of the black female body, all taking poses take a cue from art history — "mimicking Renaissance paintings and classical Roman statues."

In just a few short years, Devin Troy Strother has become one of the most talked about fine artists on both the art fair circuit and art gallery circles. This week, the artist opens a new solo show, Look At All My Shit, at Richard Heller Gallery in Santa Monica, and we look back on Devin's feature in the January 2011 issue... when the star was just rising...

One of our favorites curators of the moment, Jesper Elg of V1 Gallery in Copenhagen, just opened a curated show at The Hole in NYC called Chicken or Beef?. The show itself is loaded with great talent from both America and Europe, curated as a "Transatlantic survey of figurative painting in Europe and America, named after the ubiquitous question posed on transatlantic flights."

A long week of art happenings has just concluded in NYC, with The Armory Show being at centerstage. But take a cab ride down to SoHo, and you found yourself at Volta NY, a fair that focused on solo projects from artists represented by galleries from around the world.

Last day to hit the fairs in Miami Beach. Sitting on the beach with a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean, Untitled Art Fair was another standout of the week of Art Basel. The Hole, Esopus, Monya Rowe, Loyal, Steve Turner, Parisian Laundray were just a few of the standout booths at Untitled.

From the first time we saw the work of Devin Troy Strother at Richard Heller Gallery, we knew the Brooklyn-based artist was someone to follow and could see a bright future ahead. Years later and a few strong showings around the world (plus a Juxtapoz interview in January 2011) we are very excited to see his new works he has prepared for his show at Los Angeles' Richard Heller Gallery, opening September 8.

Cooper Cole in Toronto is hosting a great line-up in the group exhibition, Zagga Zow, now on display through August 20, 2012. Cooper Cole went into the deep trenches of the urban dictionary to find out what Zagga Zow means, and they came up with "A word with literally no definition." In the meantime, Matt Leines, Larissa Bates, Devin Troy Strother, Marc Bell, Charlie Roberts, John Riepenhoff, James Kirkpatrick, Anders Oinonen, and Sara Clendering are all showcased.
