Upper Playground was founded with the belief that numerous social influences, such as art, music, skateboarding, basketball, and street life, could be combined in one brand of clothing that celebrates contemporary urban lifestyle without excluding anyone. Today, Upper Playground is recognized as a catalyst for the fusion of fashion with art from some of the finest local and international artists and graphic designers. David Choe Update

Juxtapoz // Friday, August 17, 2007
David Choe [JUXTAPOZ Issue #72] updated his blog earlier today with *14* new posts. Topmost on the list of news is the sad but inevitable finale of the Thumbs Up! series set to air next week on vbs.tv. The good news is that David and his cousin Harry just returned from the epic journey of Thumbs Up! Season Two, wherein they make their way from Tijuana to Alaska and bring back the brilliant video footage. Other highlights from the cornucopia of posts include a painting he did of his parents using photos of them as teenagers for reference to magically merge them before they knew each other, a story of how a wine company paid him to do a live painting session at their winery but then used that painting on a wine bottle label and never told him, and a street full of whale guts. davechoe.blogspot.com {moscomment}

Thumbs Up! Episode 16

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, July 25, 2007
Ohhh, lordy it's Wednesday. That means another new episode of Thumbs Up! on vbs.tv. Artist David Choe and his cousin Harry stop off in Lake Providence, Louisiana after 50+ miles drifting down the Mississippi River. There, they wander into an exclusive hunting club and get a ride to town from a couple members. Along the way, among the cotton fields, they spy a noose hanging from a tree... Uhhhh, *nervous laughter*. www.vbs.tv {moscomment}

Thumbs Up! Episode 15

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, July 18, 2007
It's Wednesday! You know what that means... another episode of Thumbs Up!, this one titled, "Making River Buddies." David Choe [JUXTAPOZ Issue #72] and his cousin Harry hitch up with a little fishing boat and get a lift farther down the Mississippi River. The fishing boat is manned by two truckers who let us know why we don't see hitchhikers anymore and hook our boys up with a couple cold ones. "I am in my boxers, lying on a raft, drinkin' beers and brews with my friend Harry, and they're fucking cold! Harry can I ask you a question?" "What?" "Why is life so rad?" "It just is." www.vbs.tv {moscomment}
