Preview: Raul Gonzalez III & Caleb Neelon @ Black Book Gallery, Denver

This past June, artist, Jux contributor, and Bostonian Caleb Neelon interviewed fellow artist and Bostonian Raul Gonzalez in our magazine. This friendship has now blossomed in a joint exhibition, Mojados y Polvosos (Wet and Dusty), set to open at Denver's Black Book Gallery this September 7, 2012, with Neelon focusing on a maritime theme and Gonzalez focuses on the idea of a voyage, using soil, coffee, and dirty water as his materials.

August 2012 cover artist, Evan Hecox, Shepard Fairey, and Jim Houser... not a bad line-up in one showing. The trio of artists will be showing together at Black Book Gallery in Denver, Colorado, starting this Friday, August 3rd. Coinciding with the exhibition, Shepard Fairey and Evan Hecox will be installing murals on the Metropolitan State College of Denver CVA (Center for Visual Arts), and on Friday, August 3rd, there will be an invite only panel discussion with all 3 artists at the same Center for Visual Arts.

We have long been fans of Gregory Euclide, from his paintings, sculptures, installations, and cover artwork for Bon Iver. It is his newest project, and subsequent print series, that may be his most impressive. Along with his gallery, David B Smith, Euclide recently created a series temporary paintings made with Sumi ink on dry erase board, and now they are being released in a print series.

She has an impressive portfolio, including a recent John Baizley half-sleeve (still in the works), a piece depicting a gorgeous Audrey Kawasaki painting, a Darwin faced monkey and a delicious winged burger and ketchup dripping fries.

Denver's David B Smith Gallery has a fantastic new exhibition of works from Hong Seon Jang, featuring a fantastic sculpture piece titled Type City, featuring letterpress on wood panel made to resemble, you guessed it, the cityscape. The exhibition, with the great title of Labyrinth, features Jang's signature tape drawings, where he creates large scale works on chalkboard using tape.
