Dennis McNett's The Serpent of Sheboygan

Juxtapoz // Thursday, July 09, 2015
Thousands of years after the flames of Ragnarok had burned over the earth and the smoke from the fires blocked the sun from warming the planet, there came a great age of ice. Energies and information of the great gods and giants were scattered and lost across mountains, seas, winds and giant glaciers.

Dennis McNett's "The Conjuring of the Red River"

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, May 26, 2015
On their travels across the North American continent, the Wolfbat tribe has made it’s way into the city of Shreveport. Several of the Wolfbat shamans, when entering the city, felt the residual presence of ancient gods. The greek god Pan, who was the god of rustic music, had been in the area drumming up the musical talents from blues musicians such as Leadbelly and later performers from the Louisiana Hayride.

Wolfbat and The Resurrection of Big Mary

Juxtapoz // Monday, October 06, 2014
Dennis McNett (aka Wolfbat) has been on the move this year. We caught up with him last Spring in Austin, TX during SXSW where he spent the week building a massive ship in the parking lot of the Yellow Jacket Social Club for Juxtapoz Projects. More recently, we saw him in August when he stopped through the bay area to build a giant Bison for us at Outside Lands Music Festival. Since then he has made his way to Tennesse, Indiana, and Mexico City! While in San Francisco, Dennis told us the story of Big Mary, a circus Elephant who was executed by hanging in Johnson City, TN in 1916. Well, let Dennis tell you the story:

"Art Truancy: Celebrating 20 Years of Juxtapoz Magazine" @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery—The Art

Juxtapoz // Monday, May 19, 2014
And finally, the art. We are so proud of all the artwork that is on exhibit in "Art Truancy: Celebrating 20 Years of Juxtapoz Magazine," open at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC through June 14, 2014. It blows our mind that we are now two decades old, but what is even more amazing are all the artists that have been in our pages over those years. Their works tell the story, create the chance to document alternative art narratives, bring out the fans, bring out the collectors, and keep the creative energy of Juxtapoz alive. Here, then, is all the art in "Art Truancy."
