Last week we posted an incredible sculpture by James Dive of the Glue Society where he compressed an entire mobile amusement park, rides, games, and prizes, into a 4m x 4m cube. This week we take a look through some of the other sculptures on view at Sculpture by the Sea in Aarhus, Denmark. The event features sculptural works from 64 artists from 22 countries. We are hoping that it's success means more sculpture festivals around the world!

Our good friend and contributor Henrik Haven just sent some teaser shots of Nychos's new works in Denmark for the Viborg International Billboard Painting Festival. Nychos, Horfee, Blade and John Howard were all doing new works this past week in the small Danish town, and it looks like a school got a touch of the Weird. Summer is here, and the European continent is getting new public works!

James Dive of The Glue Society recently squished, crammed, and compacted an entire amusement park including rides and prizes into a 4-meter cube. Entitled Once, the piece is on show at Sculpture by the Sea in Aarhus, Denmark. Up until July 1st, "The project is about the finality of a missed moment," says Dive. "Creating [it] was undoubtedly the most violent process I've ever embarked upon."

El Mac is currently in Denmark for his solo exhibition that opened last night at Galerie Wolfsen. While there, the artist spent some time outdoors adding this massive mural entitled "Our Lady of Aalborg" to the Denmark landscape. 

This could be a big week of ARYZ news, as the January 2013 cover artist is set to open a new solo show in San Francisco at FIFTY24SF Gallery this April 19. First off, our friend in Denmark, Henrik Haven, set over a few images of wood panels that ARYZ painted last summer that have now be installed at the Næstved Station.

This morning we take a look at a variety of large-scale art and sculpture installations by Danish-Icelandic artist and designer Olafur Eliasson and his studio. Olafur is known for using materials such as light, mirrors, water, and air temperature to enhance the viewer's experience.  

Danish artist Troels Carlsen is inspired by the human condition and his work often revolves around our historical and biological heritage. Through a wide range of media, collage and illustration, he explores our relation to the animal world with, often times through scientific anatomical illustrations. His multi-level pieces combine elements of landscape, science and portraiture, and are arranged an a near poetic way.

Juxtapoz friend and San Francisco fine artist, Jason Jägel is set to open a new body of work at Galleri Christoffer Egelund in Copenhagen, Denmark this Friday, October 26, 2012. The Castle & Other Works is a series of paintings that originate as "blotter" paper: a base layer beneath other on-going paintings that naturally accrues random overpaint, test brush marks, notations, inattentive attention and text.

Using postcards that he obtains from restaurants and culture houses in Denmark, artist Amir Zainorin creates collaged postcard murals of famed leaders that currently reside on the face of major currency. George Washington, Queen Elizabeth, and Mao Zedong get the treatment in a very odd, but rather creative series of portraits from the Malaysian-born artist.
