Cult-followed and fashion staple Supreme has been in the news quite a bit in the past week, first with a huge spread in the NY Times, and now they will have a skate deck retrospective exhibition at the 032c Workshop in Berlin opening Saturday, December 1. The deck collaboration series for Supreme has seen some of the biggest names in contemporary art stop in for a few deck designs: Damien Hirst, George Condo, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, KAWS, Marilyn Minter, and Futura, to name a few.

"I can't pretend I'm not in love with Paul Insect a little bit, but not in a gay way," says Damien Hirst. Well, if that isn't the way to kick off our time back in the office this morning, previewing May 2007 cover artist Paul Insect's new show at Opera Gallery in NYC and hearing love poems from Damien Hirst, well, then, we don't know what will do it for us. Insect's Out of Chaos opens this Thursday, November 29.

Finally, we found our Halloween costume. Recently, Damien Hirst's 66-foot bronze sculpture, Verity, was placed/erected/dropped in the coastal town of Ilfracombe, England. That is 66-feet of naked pregnant bronze woman holding a sword aloft standing upon legal books, with half her innards exposed and half her body just fully bronze and naked. For those into language, "verity" means "truth" in Italian.

Damien Hirst's Spot Paintings that are being exhibited at the 11 Gagosian Galieries worldwide have created significant buzz in the art world. Some love the paintings, others have an aversion to what they may imply about the art market itself. EIther way, Hirst's work is a topic of conversation and must be regarded as an influential force in the world of contemporary art.

As part of his all around the world in Gagosian Gallery's near you exhibition, The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011, we stopped by Damien Hirst's opening at Gagosian in Paris last week to see what pieces showed up in France. The worldwide exhibition features paintings are being lent by private individuals and public institutions, more than 150 different lenders from twenty countries.

Last night we attended the opening of Damien Hirst’s worldwide exhibition of twenty-five years of spot paintings at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills. The exhibition takes place simultaneously across the world at all eleven of the Gagosian Gallery locations. Photos and more after the jump….

Way back in the good old days that was August, we noted that Damien Hirst was going to have a mega exhibit across all 11 Gagosian Gallery locations with The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011. With Hirst's retrospective at the Tate Modern set to open this April 2012, these January 12, 2012 openings for Spot Paintings should be a good precursor.

Good timing to have one of the most famous British artists in the world have a retrospective at the Tate Modern coinciding with the London Olympics. Damien Hirst will be exhibiting a retrospective at the Tate Modern beginning on April 4, 2012, and will be the first substantial survey of his work in a British institution and will bring together key works from over twenty years.

This should be an interesting film: Skin, where director Ryan Hope has made a stylistic production to examine tattoo art and culture as "high art." The film "tests the boundaries of art and the human body," and gathers interviews with Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons and Raymond Pettibon about to look at the evolving genre.

We received a nice message today from Takashi Murakami's Kaikai Kiki Co in advance of their benefit auction with Christie's for the victims of Japan’s Tohoku-Pacific Earthquake. The benefit will include artists such as Damien Hirst, KAWS, Jeff Koons, Mr., Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Gabriel Orozco, Aya Takano, Luc Tuymans, and many others.
