We may start doing this everytime we need a new book to read. This post began when one of us went to the office book shelf to find a new title to read, and when they got back, they had a Kurt Vonnegut book that sparked a convesation about classic book jacket covers. And then we simply used this thing called Google and found more. Enjoy.

TIME Magazine just unveiled the cover of their newest issue, and we know how hard it is for a weekly news magazine to garner attention for their covers, but Ai Weiwei will definitely get you on the arts and culture blogs. The cover features the attention-grabbing statement: "The World According to China". Editor Rick Stengel was quoted on TV as saying, "I actually think it's the most beautiful cover we've ever done in our history." Well done, well timed, and yes, it is really beautiful.

Famed NYC photographer, Ryan McGinley, is no stranger to music photography. His haunting series following Morrissey as well as his recent Grids series at Team Gallery all capture music culture in unique ways. McGinley recently shot the cover of Bat For Lashes' newest comeback LP, The Haunted Man. A sliver of nudity after the jump . . .

Our May 2011 issue is about to hit newsstands, and we are pleased to announce that Los Angeles-based fine artist, Eric Yahnker, is the cover of both our newsstand and subscriber covers. After a successful solo exhibition, Cracks of Dawn, earlier this year with Ambach & Rice at Kunsthalle in LA, we sat down with the artist and talked about lifting weights and process. Covers after the jump . . .

Process pieces are always the most interesting, the how-tos to creating something that is both artistic and commercial. Illustrator and typographer, Darren Booth, was responsible for the book jacket cover and endpapers for Steve Martin's art collecting-themed novel, An Object of Beauty, and he posted his step-by-step process of creating a book cover for a major publisher . . .
