Volcano Choir is the "side" project of Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and Wisconsin's Collections of Colonies of Bees. In 2009, they put out a stellar and understated album called Unmap that the office of Juxtapoz liked very much. And now that Vernon is a Grammy-award winner, he is back with the Choir and creating another great track, "Byegone," for the new album Reprave out September 3 on Jagjaguwar. The video was just released, featuring a tree, light sabers that blink, and a wonderfully serene experience directed by Michinori Saigo.

Corey Arnold’s photography has seized my imagination since it was first printed in Juxtapoz back in 2008, and his new series is no disappointment. “Wolf Tide” opens this Saturday at Richard Heller Gallery with deep running themes of our current political and economic unrest woven through an expansive rural landscape marred by human wreckage.

Just a reminder that tonight, September 8, at Bold Hype Gallery in NYC, a great trio of photographers, Peter Beste, Corey Arnold, and Céline Clanet are part of a trio exhibition, Frontiers. If you feel warm and a need some sort of Nordic/cold water feel, this will be a good show for you.
