This is a good way to kick off the new year, and we are excited to see the progress on this one: SFer and Mission Schooler (if you need labels) Alicia McCarthy opens a new body of work, "Snobody," at one of our favorite galleries in the world, V1 Gallery in Copenhagen. "Most of the new works combine various abstract gestures while maintaining a very physical presence. They are subtle, radiant, complex and have an immediate and honest energy."

Carl Krull has made a series of 22 incredible drawings for his second solo show Seismic at V1 Gallery. Six of the drawings where made from the passenger seat on a road- trip across the United States in 2013. As a human seismograph he sat with the paper rolled around a tube drawing one line after another, incorporating or letting every bump in the road affect the flow of lines.

Growing up in the north woods of Minnesota outside of a township of 33 people, Isaac Arvold was surrounded by an environment that was conducive to creativity and free will. The youngest of four children, he ran around the woods inventing games and fighting the invisible monsters he and his siblings created out of their imaginations.

V1 Gallery of Copenhagen continues to be one of our favorite galleries in the international scene, and their next show with the haunting works of Swedish artist Sara-Vide Ericson, "Hidden Beings," again looks to be a great one. We gathered some of our favorite works of Ericson's from the past few years in the gallery with this post, but hope to update with the new paintings in the coming days.

Our good friend and contributor Henrik Haven recently stopped by Michael Kvium's newest exhibition, "Painters Nest" at Nils Stærk in Copenhagen, Denmark. Staging is essential to the art of Michael Kvium. This approach has been employed and refined in different expressions such as performances, video installations, paintings, and sculptures and the performative aspect is a recurrent artifice throughout his entire career...

We are very excited to get a first look at Christian Rex van Minnen's work for his upcoming "Glazed and Confused" exhibit at Gallery Poulsen in Copenhagen, Denmark. Featured in our recent April, 2014 issue, van Minnen explores the techniques and styles of Old Masters' oil painting while seeking out opportunities within the traditional layers and glazes of paint to create a confused stratum of form, content and meaning...

As we noted on the site earlier this week, September 2013 cover artist Geoff McFetridge is to open a solo show, "Meditallucination" at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen on Friday, March 21st. The first round of previews centered around the Los Angeles-based artist's paitnings, and today we have a look at the fantastic drawings and studies McFetridge created around the show, which are arranged in an installation piece at the show. Take a look! And if you are feeling saucy, take a look at Geoff's board he handpainted as part of our Jux x Univ x Chandran Gallery benefit for Waves for Water.

Geoff McFetridge does a lot of things very well. He does visuals for the film "HER," collaborations with Jack Spade/Heath Ceramics/NIke/Spike Jonze, and makes beautiful minimalist paintings. He was also the cover of the September 2013 Juxtapoz print edition, and he painted a surfboard for our special benefit auction for Waves for Water that starts today. And, this Friday, March 21, he opens a brand new set of exhibition of 13 paintings, Meditallucination, at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen.

We got to spend a ton of time with SF-based Richard Colman at Art Basel in Miami, as Richard helped design the poolside vibes at the Shore Club South Beach. Aka, he transformed the pool chairs into a Colman vision. Now, the artist is set to open "Noise" at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen, his third solo exhibition at the gallery. The show comes down Saturday, March 15, so go check it!
