Now open through November 10, Project One Gallery in San Francisco presents “The Rebirth,” an exhibition of work by New York graffiti legend Cope2. Widely recognized as one of New York City’s most famous and prolific graffiti writers, this self-taught artist has been a fixture of the street scene for over 30 years. More recently, his paintings have been displayed in galleries across the United States and abroad.

NYC graffiti artist Cope2 is set to open a new exhibition, Resilient, at Dorian Grey Gallery in NYC tonight, May 17. The exhibition will feature new, abstract paintings and custom subway signs, with his signature "bubble letters" that we have come to know interwoven in more abstract arrangments.

A delayed mural ordinance is creating confusion and frustration amongst artists, and building owners in Los Angeles. A recent wall painted by Zes, Push, Chris Brand, and Evan Skrederstu was painted over to serve as a backdrop for a production company, while another wall painted by Sand, Vyal, and Cope2 was buffed out by orders of the LAPD saying it was illegal to have a mural or graffiti piece on their property.

Yesterday, graffiti stalwarts from NYC and Los Angeles, Cope2 and Retna, collaborated on a colorful wall in the Bronx. As we wrote the other day, Retna was working on the famed Bowery and Houston wall in Manhattan, but found time to make it up north to the Bronx to work with Cope. Good results as always.

  Someone obviously has a sick sense of humor or a vendetta against Cope.  “Clean yo dirty ass with a Bronx Legend.”

This past December 1st in the Wynwood District that was a major epicenter of activity during the Basel weekend, Cope2 opened a solo exhibition, Rise to the Occasion. Cope just sent us a few photos of the set-up of his mural outside the gallery, plus a few shots of some friends who stopped by the opening.

We just walked by the building that will house NYC legend, Cope2's Rise To The Occasion that opens tonight, December 1, in the Wynwood District at Art Basel, Miami. Rise is a solo exhibition of new original mixed-media paintings and giclée prints by New York City-based artist. We will have more from the exhibition tomorrow...

NYC graffiti legend, Cope2, will be having his first solo show in Los Angeles at Maximillian Gallery opening on July 9, 2011. The show, titled Authentic, features both iconic retrospective work mixed with a new series of paintings.

NYC-graffiti legend, COPE2, will open a solo show, Transition, at TT Underground Gallery in NYC this April 7, 2011. The show will feature a "new chapter of paintings arise from the obstruction of producing graffiti pieces in the streets paradigm to a permanent transfixed surface." More after the jump . . .
