Vans has announced their sixth annual Custom Culture art competition which invites high school students from around the country to create their most artistic and inventive designs using blank Vans shoes as their canvas. Vans will donate $50,000 to the winning school’s arts program, along with the potential that the school will see one of its designs produced for sale at select Vans retail locations and Vans.com.

National Geographic received more than 9,200 entries from over 150 countries for their 2014 photo contest. Photographs were submitted in three categories: people, places and nature. The competition was judged on creativity and photographic quality by a panel of experts including National Geographic photographers John Stanmeyer and Erika Larsen, as well as Keith Jenkins, Nat Geo's General Manager of Digital.

The World Photography Organization has announced it's shortlist for the professional, open, and youth categories of the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards. The photos were chosen from over 122,000 entries from 170 different countries and were selected for their high quality, originality, and modern appeal.
