Sitting in Front of People for 716 hours and 30 minutes Gets You a Book

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, December 29, 2010
Think about it. To sit in front of 1,500 people for 716 hours and 30 minutes without outwardly expressing herself, as Marina Abramovic did at her historic Museum of Modern Art performance exhibit this past summer, aptly titled "The Artist Is Present," was one of the highlights of the art world in 2010. Maybe it was the highlight. Marco Anelli’s powerful portraits of sitters in front of Abramovic will soon be available in a monograph from Aperture. More information after the jump . . .

A Look Inside TOOLS OF CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Juxtapoz // Thursday, December 23, 2010
Our longtime contributing writer Roger Gastman (and one of the curators of the MOCA "Art In the Streets" exhibition next Spring) has a new book called Tools of Criminal Mischief that documents various tools of criminal mischief. As Roger puts it, "The danger, history, process, spray cans, magic markers, and the local styles are just a few parts of graffiti that I fixate on. Different aspects interest me at different times, but what always continues to excite me is the oddity - especially pedestrian graffiti and the strange pop-culture references." 1978 XMAS with the STORMTROOPER SUPER SHOGUN

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, December 21, 2010
Our friends at Super7 have definitely been taking the clever pills, as their new campaign takes the retro-but-not Star Wars action figure known as the Stormtrooper Super Shogun back to a Christmas before half of our readers were born and right about the time a bunch of our readers were nerding out (in a good way) to everything Lucasian. “On that alternate Earth, kids actually were able to wake up on Dec. 25th and find the Stormtrooper Super Shogun waiting to be unwrapped under their tree . . . " More after the jump . . .

All the sky-rocketing values, whatever, draw your own conclusions. We have ours, you have yours, etc. But when you have momentum, and you can raise money for a good cause, you should do it. New book from DRAN—I Love My World

Juxtapoz // Monday, December 20, 2010
As you can tell, we really like French artist Dran on this site. There is a good spirit to the work, a good amount of humor and wit that resonates with the foundation of the magazine. Dran is a busy man at the moment, showing at "Marks & Stencils" and at Pictures on Walls in London, and he now has a new book out, I Love My World. More information after the jump . . .
