"Women have always been my inspiration," says artist Ben Reyer, "but at the same time they confused me - for me they are impossible objects. We covet them, run after them and love them, live with them, but it hard to understand them." Reyer weaves such themes as the influence of media on society, the horrors of war, religion, and sexuality into his collage work, with the intent of bridging the gap between art and kitsch. His work will be on display at the NENI ART Collective in Vienna, Austria on May 29th, 2013, starting at 7:00 PM.

As the art of collage, particularly in the realm of fashion, has become more and more ubiquitous in the last decade, it is consequently more difficult than ever to find truly original interpretations of the craft. Enter Ernesto Artillo, a 26 year-old artist based in Madrid, Spain, whose deceptively simple collage creations transcend the modern cult of the fashion supermodel as timeless works of art, combining ancient Grecian aesthetics of beauty with contemporary graphic restraint and abstraction.

Multi-disciplinary artist Jock Mooney produces psychedelic pop images and installations, most recently focusing on the aesthetic possibilities of paper collage. Using thousands of hand drawn elements and deliberately spurning the use of xeroxed copies, his kaleidoscopic collages are inspired by a combined obsession for Japanese prints, 60's underground comics, and the Italian gialli genre of filmmaking, the latter heavily informing the often convoluted and pompous titles of his work.

Belfast-based artist Steven Quinn is a designer and photographer who works as a motion graphics designer. He also makes very cool collages. See a collection of them after the jump...

Spread across MOCA Grand Avenue and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, the first survey in the United States of the Swiss-born artist Urs Fischer weaves together some of his most memorable and iconic sculptural works while creating an unexpected landscape in both venues.

Maybe its cheating with celebrities, but these photo collage portraits by Maurizio Galimberti are quite stunning on a big monitor screen. The photographer is famous for his Polaroid collage portraits, and currently has work on view at the Palazzo Franchetti in Venice that are more Italian landscape works. But this series is something to get lost in today... never-ending wormhole of views here.

We are really enjoying Korean artist Jiyen Lee's collages of people ascending and descending staircases. The Escher-like collages are mesmerizing and infinite, with no identifiable beginning or end.

This morning we take a look at the work of New Orleans-based artist Michael Pajon. All of his collages are cut by hand from materials ranging from the 1880's - 1950's. He uses the artifacts that people have left behind and attempts to find a relationship between the things he has cut from old playing cards, prescription labels, postcards, matchbooks, and magazines.

This morning we take a look at the work of French artist Mathilde Aubier. Mathilde uses newspaper, vintage photos, and muted colors to create these neat collates. She uses her graphic design and illustration skills in the professional world as part of Ma + Chr design studio.
