Perhaps you followed our Instagram feed during the week of Art Basel 2013, but you may have saw our collaborative surfboard project with Encinitas, California-based shop UNIV and San Francisco-based Chandran Gallery. In Miami, we kickstarted the project that will soon be fully announced as a full auction and exhibition benefit for Waves For Water, an organization on the ground in the Philippines, mobilizing an urgent clean water disaster relief initiative in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan.

Erotica // Wednesday, February 19, 2014
In Cleon Peterson’s End of Days, opening February 22nd at New Image Art Gallery, Peterson’s world of depravity does not simply crash and burn: it reverses polarity, inherited not by the meek but by the vengeful and merciless. Whatever days have ended, they have been succeeded by a new age of barbarism, with clear winners and losers...

This past Wednesday, Juxtapoz attended a special benefit and auction hosted by Flea and Anthony Kiedis, all to benefit the Los Angeles area Silverlake Conservatory of Music. Past Juxtapoz featured artists Thomas Campbell, Retna, Shepard Fairey, Gus Van Sant, Ed Ruscha, and many more were in attendance, with art up for auction to support the school as well. To make it even better, Neil Young and the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed. All and all... a good cause and good night. Here are some of the shots...

The show closed and was open a week, but we captured a few looks of the space. Photos from the opening and more after the jump…
Street Art // Monday, August 19, 2013
Cleon Peterson just completed a large 2-color mural that shows his signature characters acting out in violent scenarios against one another. The artist was recently in London for his exhibition “There is A War” at the Outsiders London Gallery and has now returned to bring his savage imagery to this wall in the L.A. art district.

Juxtapoz // Saturday, July 06, 2013
If you happen to get yourself to London in the month of July, there is a good art show to check out: Cleon Peterson, "There Is A War," at London's The Outsiders. "Cleon Peterson's nightmarish tableaux feature scenes of a barbaric holocaust, where might is right and the weak are merely souls with holes for the strong to torment and abuse. Deviance is the norm, and the displaced individual is forced to navigate this wicked world alone, finding hollow bits of pleasure and meaning in violence, sex, religion and drugs."
