Our friend Henrik Haven stopped by the new Clare Rojas exhibition at Galleri Nicolai Wallner in Copenhagen this past weekend. As we have seen in a past exhibition at PRISM in Los Angeles, the San Francisco-based artist has moved away from her more figurative folk works into more abstract, minimalist explorations in color and shape.

In L.A.: Clare Rojas "Pith" @ Prism Gallery http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/in-la-clare-rojas-prism-gallery http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/in-la-clare-rojas-prism-gallery In L.A.: Clare Rojas
This past weekend Clare Rojas’ latest exhibition opened up at Prism gallery in Los Angeles. Entitled Pith, this body of paintings signals a further exploration for Rojas, in respect to both subject and materiality. In this exhibition, we observe the artist’s concentration on abstract space and the blurring between architectural dimensionality and geometric flatness. Photos and more after the jump…

San Francisco's Electric Works just opened a new show with Geoff Chadsey titled shift, return. We don't know about you, but a little androgyny and male nudity never hurt anyone. More after jump . . .

Stolen Art: Barry McGee & Clare Rojas http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/stolen-art-barry-mcgee-a-clare-rojas http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/stolen-art-barry-mcgee-a-clare-rojas We hate thieves, especially when it’s amazing art they’re taking. Two pieces of art by Barry McGee and Clare Rojas were recently stolen from San Francisco’s Pressure exhibit at the RVCA store on Haight Street. To make matters worse, both pieces are from permanent, private collections with a great deal of sentimental value to the artists. Lame. Thanks to our friend at sketchypad.com for the info.]]> Editor@juxtapoz.com (Juxtapoz) Juxtapoz Mon, 30 Jun 2008 01:38:22 -0700
