One of our all-time favorite artists, Chris Johanson, sat down with our friends at KQED Arts recently at Adobe Books to discuss not only his life in art, but also some of the reasoning behind his work and the process of exhibitions and learning. KQED also got to spend some time making conceptual art with Chris, with the artist teaching us all how to make our very own piece of art... take notes kids.

If you are in San Francisco tonight, Saturday January 25, go by and see our friends at Adobe Books because they will be hosting a Chris Johanson book signing from 6—10pm. There will be music by the Ovarian Trolley in celebration of Adobe's 25th Anniversary, and, you know, you can get a book signed by Chris, who notes "Adobe Bookshop is my first home. It's my favorite place to be. In all my travels nowhere comes close. I met the love of my life sitting at that desk...". Read our June 2009 feature with Chris while you are here... then go there.

You could spend an entire day in Art Basel Miami Beach, the main and signature fair of what has become the world's biggest art week each year. After all the parties, the special projects, and even all the celebrity gossip, we are all here to see the main fair, and this year Juxtapoz decided to just wander around, take it all in, and capture just a few things that caught our eye.

Last night, we attended the opening of a special exhibition at City College in San Francisco, (Almost) Free Formed, featuring collaborative works of former City College students Barry McGee, Chris Johanson, and Laurie Reid. The quiet, intimate night was highlighted by the trio's organization and layout of the show, and also gave notice to the importance of SF's City College to some of the most successful and influential artists to come out of San Francisco in recent decades.
