One of the best parts of working on the Halloween issue was editing it. Evan, myself and Trent, the art director, spent weeks tightening up the layout, moving articles around, coming up with a color scheme, deleting all of the "umms", "likes" and awkward pauses from everyones interviews...

The first time I visited Sam Kieth's studio, about 10 years ago, he shared cubicle space directly above The Spaghetti Factory. And he had a janitor. The last time I ventured up to Sam Kieth's studio, 6 years later, he was literally working (comfortably, might I add) in a duct-tape-wrapped mummy of a chair in an underground hideout in the forests of Placerville, CA. By underground I mean UNDERGROUND. There was dirt on top of the ceiling...
