As Berlin-based fine artist Charlie Isoe makes a major return with his newest body of work, In the Bad Bush, that opens this Friday, June 28 in London at Lazarides Gallery. To coincide with the first time Isoe has shown in over 3 years, we look back on our cover story we ran with the artist in April 2010, where we discussed his elusive nature, growing up in rural Australia, and how he accidentally shot a tractor.

We are very excited to see that Australian-born, Berlin-based Charlie Isoe (cover artist from April 2010), is back in the exhibition swing. This Friday, June 28, Isoe will open a new solo show, In the Bad Bush, at Lazarides Gallery's Rathbone space in London. As the gallery notes, "After inexplicably vanishing from the art scene for over three years... [Isoe draws] from the isolation of Western Australia to his itinerant youth and lifestyle of abandon, and quickly established himself as a pioneer in his field."

It has been awhile since we check in with Perth, Australia-based, and former April 2010 cover artist, Charlie Isoe, but we were looking at his old cover image in our office yesterday and thought... damn, Charlie is a talented painter. The works always felt full of energy, ideas, command, but also loose and exploratory. Although he hasn't shown in a few years, we expect something interesting whenever Isoe has a new body of work.
