In his intriguing series "Process of Elimination," Peoria, Illinoise-based artist Chad Wys digitally deconstructs 18th century portraits through seemingly arbitrary additions and omissions of colors and smudges, experimenting with the concept of disharmony while still retaining a semblance of the paintings' original form and purpose. This technique of deconstruction plays a significant part in Wys' thought process and image-making, in which he enjoys shifting contemporary ideas into historical contexts to create reinvented artistic and cultural objects.

Just going the morning rounds, we came across the work of Illinois-born artist, Chad Wys. We like the amount of work that Wys is creating, from paintings, to conceptual pieces, to sculpture and found painting work. Almost a random Tumblr worth of work from one artist.
