The Walt Disney Family Museum is pleased to present the exhibition Camille Rose Garcia: Down the Rabbit Hole. On view from May 9 to November 3, 2013, the exhibition features some 40 works by Garcia alongside ten Alice in Wonderland concept paintings by Disney artist Mary Blair from the Museum’s collection. Organized by guest curator Tere Romo, the exhibition celebrates not only Garcia and Blair’s artistry across decades and artistic styles, but also the power of art to draw us into magical worlds that spark engagement and inspiration.

We kick of the Spring season (which bascially means sunnier coverage, or not, play with us here) with our May 2013 issue, featuring Kenny Scharf on our cover, with a special edition cover created by Camille Rose Garcia. Kenny's show at Paul Kasmin Gallery comes into our focus, as well as Garcia's exhibition at the Disney Family Museum. We recently stopped by LeBasse Projects for their newest exhibition, LA Mixtape. LA MiXTAPE documents the effect of music on the process of creation, asking each participating artist to create a piece titled after a song, artist, or band that has inspired or influenced his/her creative process.

This Saturday, April 28, Thinkspace Gallery is hosting New Blood, a group exhibition curated by filmmaker Morgan Spurlock. New Blood aims to showcase artists that Spurlock feels have changed the art world forever and has in turn given each of them the chance to invite a protégé of their choice to profile alongside their own work in this very special exhibit. Los Angeles' Michael Kohn Gallery will be presenting both an exhibition and book signing of watercolor paintings by Camille Rose Garcia featured in the illustrated version of the Grimm Brothers' Snow White. (We just received a copy of the book in our office, great works). The exhibition will open on March 15, with a book signing on the same night.

Camille Rose Garcia was born in Los Angeles, visiting Disneyland and going to punk shows with the other dissenchanted youth of that era.Her paintings of creepy cartoon children living in wasteland fairy tales are critical commentaries on the failures of capitalist utopias.
