Brad Kunkle's Golden Age

Erotica // Friday, November 02, 2012
In the paintings of  Brad Kunkle, lovely nude women, often captured sleeping, are draped in waves of gilded foliage, slumbering beauties caught in surreal, incandescent dreamscapes. On his prominent use of gold, the artist explains: 'the surfaces of these oil paintings are embellished with genuine gold and silver leaf. These precious metals are used as symbolic elements as well as visual instruments to interact with the viewer's movements and environment...'

The Surreal Works of Brad Kunkle

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, February 29, 2012
We just came across the work of NYC-based, Pennsylvania born Brad Kunkle this morning, and his highly detailed works are definitely stunning. He captures women, sometimes sleeping, sometimes as if captured in a dream sequence, amongst piles of leaves, surrounded by nature, sometimes with hyperreal quality and other times more abstract and fleeting.
