Revere Beach, the first public beach, established in 1895, hosted the annual Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival last weekend. Going on it’s eleventh year, this beloved festival brings over 750,000 beachgoers and fans of sand and prizes the winner for $15,000. Over twenty master sand sculptors compete over a weekend but are limited to 24 hours of work.

El Mac continues to be one of the great and most unique muralists of his time, one that is based on tradition but also a progressive and unique style. We have been covering Mac for years, both as a fine artist, muralists, and champion of public art around the world. Recently, Mac painted this massive mural in Boston, which was titled Ars et Scientia.

It's harrowing to consider the caliber of plutocratic monster who might hang one of Enamel Kingdom's menacing tiger slabs behind the desk in his lair. One imagines the sort of curiously cultured alpha-Neanderthal who fires underlings because it's Friday and often introduces himself by announcing, Your worst nightmare just walked into the room.

One of Juxtapoz' favorite artists, Suzannah Sinclair, just opened a new series of works at Samsøñ in Boston, Mass, "Nature Nudes and Interiors." We have always loved the SInclair's almost throwback style of watercolor and pencil drawings, but the addition of the nature and interior works, juxtaposed with the nostalgic nudes, makes for a compelling series that we wish we could make it out to Boston to check out.

When people came to see the “Janky Donuts” exhibit at Lot F Gallery, many thought they were going to visit a new donut shop in town. This may have had to do with a few false food section articles that circulated around, or the professionally designed logo and website. In actuality, “Janky Donuts” is an art exhibit, a pop up donut shop installation of sorts, put together by the !nd!v!duals collective. Instead of soft sugary dough, the Janky Donuts are made of silkscreened painted wood...

A sign painter by trade, Japanese artist Kenji Nakayama brought some his vivid painting and stenciling skills to Somerville, MA for the new Converse Wall to Wall, featured on the back cover of the February, 2013 issue of Juxtapoz Magazine.
