Out of the 90's came a time where comics were rich and unabashedly bold, where we could crimp the hair of our Furbees while listening to Spice World and sorting our Pokemon cards. It was out of this generation that the artist Boneface evolved- a product of this slime-induced, comic-book culture, both embracing and rebelling against all of it with an angsty infatuation...

Everything that's right with the action-gore work of Boneface just might be the same things that make him perfectly wrong for any other creative endeavor. The titles of his humorously brutal illustrations, like 'Actionfu*kers' or 'Over My Dead Body' are so perfectly matched with the bloody, gruesome rendered narratives and comics he creates. Love.

Two things. One, Boneface's work for Queens of the Stone Age and their album "...Like Clockwork" was amazing. Second, QOTSA are amazing. Oh, and we have a third thing. Boneface just updated his site with new works from 2014, and as always, they are heavy metal come to life. Or desert rock. Your pick.

Queens of the Stone Age have been pumping the promotion of their new LP, ...Like Clockwork, all over the web over the past month, and we have been excited to see one of our favorite artists, Boneface, get the attention he deserves. The artist created the album cover artwork for QOTSA, and now has over 15 minutes of animation going along with Queens' new music. Epic.

We love when we find an artist we love that connects with a band that we love. So is the case with UK-illustrator, Boneface (featured in our September 2012 issue), as he has illustrated the new Queens of the Stone Age album cover, ...Like Clockwork. Has anyone seen the billboards in LA?

We love this work, and loved it so much that we featured it in the newest issue of Juxtapoz, our September 2012 issue. The titles of his humorously brutal illustrations, like 'Actionfu*kers' or 'Over My Dead Body' are so perfectly matched with the bloody, gruesome rendered narratives and comics he creates.

A busy summer it has been all around in the art world, but in our home base of the San Francisco Bay Area, we have had two significant museum retrospectives that have made their way into the September 2012 issue of Juxtapoz. First off, we celebrate our cover story, Daniel Clowes, and his fantastic exhibition at the Oakland Museum of California, Modern Cartoonist: The Art of Daniel Clowes. Over the years, the iconic comic book artist has given us cult-followed works such as Ghost World, Eightball, Wilson, and numerous covers for The New Yorker.
