On Sunday, March 8, 2015, MoMA will open a retrospective of the Icelandic-born artist, focusing on not only her identity as a visual artist, but the power of her music. Many people will be flooded with memories of listening to Björk’s amazing output from the ’90s...

This is going to be a fun month here at Juxtapoz as we celebrate Björk and her retrospective at MoMA, but also her cover for the April 2015 issue of our print edition. We also get the chance to kick back and see some of the work our friends have done with Björk over the years; first up being our friends at Ghost Robot and the production they did on the amazing video for "Wanderlust" off of 2007's Volta LP. Directed by Encyclopedia Pictura, this is one of Björk's most masterful videos.

There are very few figures of the last 25 years that can cross the barriers of pop, underground, and progressive art quite like Bjork. She has transformed the way we look at music, video art, stage performances, and overall artistic persona unlike any artist we can think of. In conjunction with the opening of her special retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art, the April 2015 cover is a celebration of the past, present, and future of Bjork.

Very few artists garner an immediate identity when you simply utter their name, or create such an interesting paradox. April 2015 cover artist Björk is both a major pop star and art pioneer, a balancing act of defining the future while bringing millions of fans along with her. It comes as no surprise that on March 6, 2015, MoMA will open a retrospective of the Icelandic-born artist, focusing on not only her identity as a visual artist, but the power of her music...

About 7 months ago, we already were in a bit of a rush to announce the MoMA's newly planned retrospective on the visual art and musical career of Bjork. Now it all is starting to make sense. Not only does the MoMA open Bjork on March 8, 2015, the Icelandic artist will release her new full length LP, Vulnicura, sometime in March 2015 as well. What do we know of the album? Venezuelan producer Arca worked on it (he worked with Kanye West on Yeezus and FKA twigs, so that is a good sign). The Haxan Cloak also contributed to Vulnicura.

The Museum of Modern Art just announced that they will be doing a full-scale retrospective dedicated to the career of everyone's favorite Icelandid composer, singer and artist, Björk. The exhibition is being organized by the museum's chief curator, Klaus Biesenbach and will run from March 7th - June 7th, 2015. “Bjork is an extraordinarily innovative artist whose contributions to contemporary music, video, film, fashion and art have had a major impact on her generation worldwide,” Mr. Biesenbach said in a statement. “This highly experimental exhibition offers visitors a direct experience of her hugely collaborative body of work.”

The person singing underneath that crazy, incredible looking headpiece is Bjork. Surprised? Probably not, if you showed us a picture of a woman singing in a crazy outfit that would probably be our first guess too. The headpiece though, was designed by Maiko Takeda and is one of a series of similar pieces entitled Atmospheric Reentry. Maiko grew up in Tokyo and moved to London to study Jewelry Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She is currently working on her Masters in Millinery at the Royal College of Art.

We had a little fun with Michel Gondry earlier this year with our interview with the director and Petit Gondry photoshoot. Today, we just saw that Mr. Gondry directed this fantastic new video for Björk and the track "Crystalline," that will appear on the Icelandic artist's newest album, Biophilia, that will be released on September 26.

Editor's note regarding our unique art direction of a little kid in our Michel Gondry feature in the January 2011 issue of Juxtapoz: It's not everyday that a famous film director invites you to photograph their creative process. This article on Michel Gondry was no exception. More after the jump . . .
