Björk Issue Release Party @ Clift Hotel, SF

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, March 18, 2015
There are very few figures of the last 25 years that can cross the barriers of pop, underground, and progressive art quite like Björk. She has transformed the way we look at music, video art, stage performances, and overall artistic persona unlike any artist we can think of. In conjunction with the opening of her special retrospective at the MoMA The Museum of Modern Art, the April 2015 cover is a celebration of the past, present, and future of Björk. Join us in the Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel in San Francisco for this special celebration.

The Juxtapoz month of Björk appreciation continues (her classic Post album is the cover of our April 2515 issue). The Icelandic artist just released the second video from her new album, Vulnicura, for the track "Family." The new visuals follows quickly on the heels of her video for “Lionsong" and the opening of her retrospective (of sorts) at MoMA.

On Sunday, March 8, 2015, MoMA will open a retrospective of the Icelandic-born artist, focusing on not only her identity as a visual artist, but the power of her music. Many people will be flooded with memories of listening to Björk’s amazing output from the ’90s...

Björk "Wanderlust" directed by Encyclopedia Pictura

Music // Tuesday, March 03, 2015
This is going to be a fun month here at Juxtapoz as we celebrate Björk and her retrospective at MoMA, but also her cover for the April 2015 issue of our print edition. We also get the chance to kick back and see some of the work our friends have done with Björk over the years; first up being our friends at Ghost Robot and the production they did on the amazing video for "Wanderlust" off of 2007's Volta LP. Directed by Encyclopedia Pictura, this is one of Björk's most masterful videos.

Juxtapoz x Squarespace: Beyond the Cover

Juxtapoz // Monday, March 02, 2015
Very few artists garner an immediate identity when you simply utter their name, or create such an interesting paradox. April 2015 cover artist Björk is both a major pop star and art pioneer, a balancing act of defining the future while bringing millions of fans along with her. It comes as no surprise that on March 6, 2015, MoMA will open a retrospective of the Icelandic-born artist, focusing on not only her identity as a visual artist, but the power of her music...

Bjork Retrospective @ MoMA + New Album "Vulnicura" Out In March

Music // Wednesday, January 14, 2015
About 7 months ago, we already were in a bit of a rush to announce the MoMA's newly planned retrospective on the visual art and musical career of Bjork. Now it all is starting to make sense. Not only does the MoMA open Bjork on March 8, 2015, the Icelandic artist will release her new full length LP, Vulnicura, sometime in March 2015 as well. What do we know of the album? Venezuelan producer Arca worked on it (he worked with Kanye West on Yeezus and FKA twigs, so that is a good sign). The Haxan Cloak also contributed to Vulnicura.
