New work entitled Earthly Beings by Australian artist Bec Winnel will be on view in the Thinkspace project room on Saturday, September 7th, with an opening reception at 6pm. An accomplished illustrator, Winnel's portraiture combines the illustrative precision of a graphic artist with the sophistication and emotiveness of a painter. The ethereal quality of the artist's work is the result of carefully accreted layers of color and pencil.

Bec Winnel is a self-taught artist based in the Kiewa Valley, Victoria, Australia. Winnel creates detailed, delicate feminine portraits which are often accompanied by elemenets of nature and nostalgia. Through her creative practice, Winnel expresses her experiences from the world around her. Her goal is to great art that inspires others. Winnel uses mixed media, mostly colored pencils, pastels and paint washes.
