This past weekend we stopped by Known Gallery to check out Aaron Rose’s Fire Sale. When Rose moved to Los Angeles from NYC in 2001, the Beautiful Losers curator left a "big black box of 1990?s memories" in storage space in Glendale. Now he is having a gallery style fire sale. Photos and more after the jump…
Beautiful Loser curator, artist, filmmaker, and musician Aaron Rose has been involved many art projects over the years, and was a major figure in NYC's underground art scene in the 1990s. Since, he has moved to Los Angeles and has a "big black box of 1990?s memories" in storage space in Glendale, and now he is having a fire sale. At a gallery. Known Gallery. Which makes it sort of an exhibition fire sale if we were being clear.
As we mentioned in our store visit to Park Life, Thomas Campbell will be showing Space Cakes at the Park Life Gallery with Kyle Field opening on February 18, 2011. As Thomas Campbell told us, it is going to more of a "happening" than a traditional art show. More images and info after the jump . . .
Released in its entirely for the first time online, the informative and influential film phenomenon Beautiful Losers offers a look inside the world of OG artists such a Thomas Campbell, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, Jo Jackson, Chris Johanson, and more.
