2010 Favorites: Barry McGee Super8 Footage from SFMoMA by Creative Lives

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, December 29, 2010
We previewed Creative Lives Season 2 and contest yesterday on the site, and because it is the last week of 2010, we are looking through some of our favorite moments. We always liked the Super8 footage that was shot by Creative Lives while McGee was setting up the centerpiece installation of the SFMoMA's 75th Anniversary Show. Watch after the jump . . .

SFMoMA Announces 2010 SECA Award Winners

Juxtapoz // Sunday, December 19, 2010
What is a nice art tradition here in San Francisco since 1967, the SFMoMA just announced that Mauricio Ancalmo, Colter Jacobsen, Ruth Laskey, and Kamau Amu Patton are the 2010 artists for its biennial SECA Art Award. For those who don't know, "Administered by SECA (Society for the Encouragement o f Contemporary Art), one of the museum's auxiliaries, the signature award honors Bay Area artists who are working independently at a high level of artistic maturity but who have not yet received substantial recognition." Bodega teams with Michael Leon and Barry McGee and others for new wall art

Juxtapoz // Thursday, December 16, 2010
We had wanted to feature Michael Leon's "Dicks of the World" wall art piece here, but we figured that might be a bit jarring this early in the day. Bodega has teamed up with Barry McGee, Leon, Steve Harrington, Cody Hudson, and Hisham Bharoocha for a new series of large scale, eco-friendly, temporary indoor art. Pictures of the new collaborative pieces after the jump . . .

You could be struggling with holiday ideas. Yesterday we mentioned the new Barry McGee book as a pre-order alternative, and now, we go in a similar direction with this collaborative lithograph through Edition Copenhagen of REAS, TWIST, and AMAZE. Only 65 were made, so this is a limited, limited edition piece. More after the jump . . .

Kenny Scharf replaces the Barry Mcgee, Dash Snow tribute at Houston and Bowery

Juxtapoz // Monday, November 29, 2010
We had been looking for pictures of the new Kenny Scharf mural at Houston and Bowery in Manhattan, the one that went over the Barry McGee and one-day Sacer tribute, and the good people of Curated (a great art and culture site in its own right), posted the best shots we have seen so far. So we thank them in advance on this early Monday morning. More pictures after the jump . . .
