We are pleased to announce our August 2011 issue of Juxtapoz Magazine (n127 if you are counting at home), with our covers featuring classic San Francisco graffiti photos of Craig Costello. Twist, Reminisce, and KR are amongst some of the artists featured in Costello's recently never-before seen documentation...

Our London correspondent, Butterfly, made it out to a fantastic looking Barry McGee exhibition of new works at London's Modern Art Gallery. The exhibition is McGee's 3rd solo at the gallery, and his first solo in London in over 6 years. London even got a pimple out of it all.

It's Friday, we are all thinking about a long weekend here in the United States, and we just wanted to show you this brilliant, rare vestige of a Twist syringe photographed in 1995. So classic, such a great piece of San Francisco history (even if this wasn't shot in SF, although we assume it was).

One of our founders and photography editors, CR Stecyk III, played director of photography on this video, "Street, 2011," a video for MOCA documenting the Barry McGee, Todd James, Steve Powers installation in "Art In the Streets." Felipe Lima, a great filmmaker, directed the piece.

We made it out to ArtPadSF this weekend, where we saw works from presenting galleries such as White Walls, Ever Gold, Gregory Lind, Guerrero Gallery, Park Life, and Anno Domini, amongst others. And we got to sit poolside for a quick second as well.

After Barry McGee, Steve Powers, and Todd James created the standout update of Street Market at MOCA's Art In the Streets exhibition, SF-based McGee created a commemorative poster for the event. And, as you can see, it deals with graffiti as a topic.
Street Art // Monday, April 18, 2011
As we mentioned late last week, the major highlight, at least for us, at Art In the Streets was the Steve "Espo" Powers, Todd "Reas" James, and Barry McGee recreation and update of their seminal 2000 Street Market show at Deitch Projects. Take it in after the jump . . .

If we could have told you last month when we announced Facemaker that Eric Yanhker was our May cover artist, it might have been more exciting. But tonight at Royal/T in Culver City, Ben Jones, Shepard Fairey, Takashi Murakami, Barry McGee, Kenny Scharf, Eric Yahnker, Jane Moseley, Olaf Breuning, and others will explore interpretations of the most universal element of human perception: the face. More after the jump . . .
