Australian photographer Ingrid Endel discovered her passion for photography after a knee accident forced her to end her career as a dancer. Now she shoots beautiful photos, portraying "the spirit of a dancer through the eyes of the lens!"

This morning we take a look at the work of Queensland, Australia-based artist Joel Rea. Joel is the winner of the 2011 Gold Coast Rotary Young Achiever in Vocational Excellence and holds a BA of Fine Arts from the Queensland College of Art.

This Saturday, April 6, Thinkspace Gallery will open a new show, Heavenly Creatures, with Australian artist, Meggs. Heavenly Creatures will feature ambitious new works by Meggs ranging from painting, sculpture, and installation. Working across media, the artist will also be creating a large scale thaumatrope as part of the exhibition installation – an antiquated Victorian device used historically to demonstrate the persistence of vision. Juxtapoz-friend Mark Whalen is set to open a new body of work, Maze Walkers, with Blackartprojects in Sydney, Australia next month. Whalen says of his work, "I paint these puzzles of fantasy and forecasted worlds – these multifaceted scenarios of discovery, roleplaying and problem solving that expose humanity at its most bizarre." That's about right. 

  We love this series of faces composed of pieces of plastic toys by artist Freya Jobbins. Freya was born in Johannesburg, South Africa but grew up in West Sydney, Australia. She see's the toy assemblages as her humorous side and her print making as her 'voice.'  

Australian union and environmental activist, Jack Mundey, is the subject of Alexandre Farto aka Vhils, most recent piece created in Sydney, Australia. The Portugese artist is in Sydney for his first Australian exhibition “Dissolve” being held at Skalitzers Contemporary Art.

Australian artist and master sculptor Ron Mueck is set to open a new show at Foundation Cartier in Paris on April 16th. Several newer larger-than-life-sized scuptures will be displayed alongside six of his better known works.  

The sleeping pair of fox-headed nude figures is just one of Melbourne-based artist Sam Jinks' many realistic sculptural works. Presented at Art Stage Singapore 2013, the piece, Unsettled Dogs, is crafted from silicone, pigment, resin and hair and are about one-quarter life size.

From our good friend and 2x cover artist, El Mac, on his new piece for the 7th Asia Pacific Triennial in Australia: this "is a collaboration with Shamsia Hassani and the Propeller Group. Shamsia Hassani is the first and probably only serious female graffiti writer in Afghanistan, and is also an associate professor in the Fine Arts Department at Kabul University...

We have had a great time covering the works of Michael Peck this year both in print and web, and the Victoria, Australia-based artist just released two prints (in two sizes) of the paintings Spitfire and Fighter Pilot #1.
