As you saw on the site last week, we were excited to check out the opening of the power trio of Audrey Kawasaki, Tara McPherson, and Deedee Cheriel at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles. This Saturday, August 2nd, Merry Karnowsky Gallery will be presenting a group exhibition featuring new work from Audrey Kawasaki, Deedee Cheriel and Tara McPherson. Audrey Kawasaki began her artistic career in her native Los Angeles, after attending Pratt Institute in NY. Moments in the artist’s personal life inform both subject matter and context for her paintings, with strong line work and delicate oils blending seamlessly onto naturally grained wood panels.

The curatorial child of artists Jeff McMillan and Nathan Spoor and museum director Ron Nelson has been born today at the Long Beach Museum of Art in the group exhibition, Risque {dirty little pictures}. After over two years of gestation out popped an incredible collection of erotic/perverse works by 40 artists who were  invited by the trio to create works within a 8x10 format. A gorgeous catalog and T-shirt by RVCA with Glenn Barr's image commemorates this gathering of artistic vision.

The Los Angeles-based artist closes out her successful 2012 year (including being our January 2012 cover) with two "pint" size print releases for the images Deep Waters and Possessed. Deep Waters, seen above, will be available Saturday, December 15, and in an edition of 200. Possessed will be released on Sunday, December 16 as a timed-edition release.
