Jonathan Levine Gallery invited us to the opening reception of Machine Sabbath, the new series of paintings, mix media collages and sculptures by Australian artist Ashley Wood. We often think Ashley Wood needs to get as much attention as any working artist today, but we know that there is a cult-following of Wood-heads all around the world. Features in our Pushead issue in November 2011, the Australia-based Wood is set to open a new body of work, Machine Sabbath, at Jonathan LeVine Gallery on Saturday, October 20. It will be his first solo show in the United States, and shares the same opening night as Jeremy Geddes' Exhale in the same gallery.

With both Australian-based artists Jeremy Geddes and Ashley Wood debuting in the United States this weekend, October 20, at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC, we look back on the cover story we ran in February 2012 with Geddes. For the occasion, we asked Ashley Wood to interview Geddes, to discuss the artist's preparation for his US debut, as well as his penchant for detail and painting 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A coinciding show we have been looking forward to ever since we interviewed Australian artist Ashley Wood in our November 2011 issue: Wood and February 2012 cover artist, Jeremy Geddes, are set to open two solo shows at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC this Saturday, October 20. Geddes' Exhale and Wood's Machine Sabbath both have the Australian artists showing new works with a high anticipation throughout the art world.

After we wrote about Melbourne's Jeremy Geddes newest painitng on Facebook yesterday, we couldn't believe we hadn't shown a selection of his work on the site before. Profiled in the magazine, and soon to be featured, Geddes' work is a practice in the hyperreal / surreal, with incredible detail and photo-like realism.
